Up-Cycled Lighting Design Objects
No. 351 marks the number of the first work of LCDA, a series of lighting objects which is a continuation of exhibitions titled ‘Home Wheres’, from 2004.
The project used materials found, given and salvaged and everything in-between – via ‘100 Hubble‘, Andrew’s first home (which he completely rebuilt over 20 years) and again in his second, ‘Garage Mahal Home‘ (sustainable design) both in Fremantle, WA.
Andrew is currently based in a workshop in Carlton North in Melbourne, whilst working on this project, and is sourcing materials primarily from ‘Tip Shops’ at local Council Waste Stations.
There are five narratives in this body of work, including, i.e. ‘Digestive Vehicles’ (food), ‘Anatomical Waste’ (body parts), ‘Loaded Plastic Pistols’ and ‘How the West Was Lost in 10 Tonka Trucks’.
